Covid-19 Guidance

COVID Guidelines

Students and staff who contract COVID-19 no longer need to automatically isolate for five days, according to new guidance issued this week by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The CDC still recommends that those with the coronavirus stay home from school or work for at least a full day after their symptoms improve and they no longer have a fever for at least 24 hours. The CDC continues to recommend those infected wash their hands, use masks, and keep physical distance from others where possible for at least five days.

SCHOOL HEALTH ADVISORY COMMITTEE:

The SHAC committee is comprised of appointed administrators, teachers, paraprofessionals, school nurses, parents, students, and community people.  If anyone is interested in serving on the SHAC committee, please contact Lola Jones. The committee meets quarterly to promote and collaborate ideas for maintaining and educating the importance of health and wellness for the district.  Each campus has different activities for the students and staff.

Through our Wellness Policy, LISD plays an important role in communicating the connection between health and learning.  We believe this connection reinforces the health knowledge and skills children need to be healthy for a lifetime.   Each spring an assessment of the activities will be available and we encourage your participation in helping us build a “ healthier and stronger future” for our students and staff.

Vision: The LISD SHAC committee exists to empower excellence through health and education for all children.

Mission: The mission of LISD SHAC committee is to empower excellence by defining a healthy school community through a Whole School, Child, Community (WSCC) approach that ensures all children will graduate with knowledge and skills to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

A school district must annually assess the physical fitness of students enrolled in grades 3–12. Parents may request in writing his or her child’s physical fitness assessment results at the end of the school year.
